Welcome to Grado, the fishing village that preserves a fascinating and millenary history that has enchanted painters and poets.
You can breathe well-being and immerse yourself in nature to find yourself in every moment. We are not talking about some earthly paradise hundreds of km away from us, but about a wonderful and evocative place guarded by our beautiful country.
We are located in Grado, also known as Isola del Sole. An evocative fishing village that preserves a fascinating and millennial history that winds through different eras and that today takes us to a place characterized by beauty and liveliness.
Grado is the pearl of the seaside resorts of Friuli Venezia Giulia, a perfect place to discover during the summer holidays and to be rediscovered for those who, this year, will opt for staycation in Italy. This destination, in fact, is able to offer by itself a series of incredible activities and experiences while guaranteeing total individual safety by virtue of the wide spaces that distinguish this territory.
In fact, there are 10 km of sandy beach that wind along the fishing village while, all inland, 16,000 hectares of lagoon branch out, dotted with over 100 islets, all to be discovered. Some of these house the casoni, the traditional fishermen’s houses of the past. The writer Claudio Magris spoke of the intimate sensations that this motionless space aroused in him: “Quiet, slowdown, inertia, lazy and relaxed abandonment”.
And Grado is just like that: slow, serene and suggestive. But also regenerating, given its tradition of hospitality as a health and wellness center, declared an imperial beach by the Habsburgs since 1892 and today SPA internationally recognized thanks above all to thalassotherapy.
As if that were not enough, all around it is surrounded by naturalistic oases of incredible biodiversity that can also be reached by bicycle. With the 40 km of cycle paths, thanks to which Grado was awarded with 5 Bike Smiles by the Fiab, the bicycle lovers can venture to discover the hinterland up to Aquileia and Palmanova (two Unesco cities), or to the Valle Cavanata and Foce dell’Isonzo Nature Reserves.
In short, Grado is the perfect summer destination for enjoying a peaceful and en plein air holiday, an extraordinary beneficial and regenerating mix, to which is added the excellent seafood cuisine, zero km products, good wine, rest and fun. The elixir of life in an unforgettable “place of the soul”, as the great director and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini defined it, a true lover of the island, who chose the lagoon to shoot Medea, one of his masterpiece films.
